1. The Timbers lost their last home game of the season. It was very sad. I do not want to talk about it.
2. My parents are visiting. They took my car and are driving along the coast. Dad is keeping both hands on the wheel, keeping his eyes on the road and is not speeding in my car. I think they have wanted to see the Oregon coast since The Goonies came out. So, a long time.
3. When they roll back into town, we will do Oregon stuff. This means drinking coffee, drinking beer, eating tater tots, wearing flannel, gentrifying, and cutting down trees.* We will also wear Obama stickers on our persons.
4. I had a nasty bout of blog addiction right after Palin was announced as McCain’s running mate. I have since cut back on the blogs and news about the election. It’s is a white-hot, over-arching anxiety that the loonies are going to win. I can’t take it. I have to block it out by thinking of kittens, puppies and bunnies.
5. This is probably illegal: Click on this link. We had a lovely dinner at Dave’s friends’ Nick and Sonja’s and this was a dish they made for us. It was seriously one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. Make this today. It will make you feel better about politics.
6. Very Important Update: Twizzlers are SOOOOO much better than Red Vines.
*(I love Oregon.)

#3… sounds like my plans for this weekend. Actually, sounds like every weekend. Except no flannel this weekend. It’s gonna be HOT.
#4 ITA. It’s not a kitty but it amuses me: http://erroraccessdenied.com/node/707
where are the crazy political rantings?? I too fear that somehow the loonies will win… again. I have had nightmares.
“Higgins matched a career high with his second goal of the season”… that is not a “career high” i would want plastered all over the paper. At least the future looks bright; he can only go up. mostly.
kelli – Higgins is a defender so it isn’t usually his job to score goals. Now, about keeping the other team from scoring goals…
I’m just happy you used “goonies” and “loonies” in the same post.
You know, I’ve been here a year now and don’t own any flannel. I might need to remedy that this winter. I wonder if there’s a button-down shirt that comes with a hood?
And – I just saw a casserole recipe similar to yours using green tomatoes instead. Lots of cheese had to die in that particular recipe, though. Mmmm.
Ah! Thanks Mary Sue! I always use macaroni to warm up my feets.
Twizzlers over Red Vines?
I’m confused. Are you an American?
You can’t get more American than Twizzlers!! Red Vines are a West Coast thing, and if you don’t like any taste in your Twizzlers, get Red Vines. (Sorry Steve, I stand by my Twizzlers)
