The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why I’m not a nut or anything, but this book was interesting. I used to think I would be a fairly calm person in the face of an emergency. But now I have babies and I’m pretty sure I’d lose my mind (read about that transition here and here). I reviewed The Unthinkable here.

Deadly Spin: An Insurance Company Insider Speaks Out on How Corporate PR Is Killing Health Care and Deceiving Americans This book pissed me off, but I’m glad I read it. It helps explain why our healthcare system is super screwed. Review here. I wrote about our adventures with self employed health insurance here, here and here.

Food Inc.

This is a movie. Well worth watching. I wrote about this movie and my fascination with grocery store consumer culture here.

Tomatoland: How Modern Industrial Agriculture Destroyed Our Most Alluring Fruit

Review here.

The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals

I don’t think I reviewed this book, but I liked it. I like Michael Pollan’s writing. He has artistry and turns of phase that make me want to be a better writer.
